Joe Cole suffers hamstring problem after returning for Liverpool

Liverpool’s Joe Cole has suffered a recurrence of his hamstring problem during his side’s defeat to West Brom at the weekend.

The player, who was making his first appearance for Liverpool since suffering a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s Europa League game, had been talking about how well he felt however he only managed to last nine minutes before having to be replaced after coming on as a substitute himself.

Brendan Rodgers said:

It’s strange because he’s trained very, very well all pre-season. Then he started the Gomel game in the Europa League and had to come off with a similar thing.

He got back, trained well and then went into the game today and the same thing has happened. It’s something the medical staff will have to look at.

At present there is no return date for Joe Cole after this latest setback.
