Arsene Wenger today gave an update about when Jack Wilshere could be expected to return to competitive action for Arsenal having been out for over one year after suffering an ankle injury last summer. Wenger said
“October will be an important month for Jack,” said the Arsenal manager.
“I will promise you that I will be careful, but Jack works very hard.
“Every day he is in early, late going home, is focused and has built up a good basis for his body.
“After how quick he will be sharp again for competition, I don’t know. We will have to wait for at least a month to see that.”
Arsenal will also be without Bacary Sagna (broken leg), Laurent Koscielny (calf) and Emmanuel Frimpong (knee) while there are doubts over the fitness of goalkeeper Wojiech Szczesny who is suffering from a rib problem. Lukasz Fabianski, himself just returning from injury, is in line to start should his fellow Pole not recover in time to start against Stoke at the Britannia on Sunday.by
