Manchester City get Richards boost

Manchester City have received a boost with the news that defender Micah Richards has been cleared to start running after undergoing knee surgery and is on track to make a comeback earlier that thought.

Richards, who tore the meniscus in his right knee against Swansea in October, has been told by his surgeon that he  can discard his crutches and begin jogging and Manchester City hope that if everything goes to plan he can be back in contention for a starting place as early as January which would be one month earlier than had originally been anticipated.

It has also been revealed that Richards has already been to Manchester City’s training ground at Carrington to complete post-surgery sessions and will start on his main rehabilitation plan soon.
