United trio return to training

Phil Jones, Wayne Rooney and David De Gea have returned to training for Manchester United ahead of their trip to Turkey to face Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Rooney was ruled out of United’s trip to Carrow Road as the forward recovered from tonsillitis which also kept him out of England’s midweek friendly while David De Gea has been absent due to having his wisdom teeth removed. Phil Jones is making his long awaited return after suffering a knee injury which he picked up as he returned from a back injury.

All three were pictured training at the open training session which was hosted by Manchester United however Shinji Kagawa and Jonny Evans were both absent from the first 15 minutes of the session which was open to the press. It is not known if they joined in later.

Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to rest a number of key players for the Champions League tie as they have already secured their progression to the knock-out phase as group winners. Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are expected to be amongst  left at home.

They are also without Nani [hamstring] and Vidic [knee].
