Arsene Wenger gave his usual pre-match press conference today and provided some updates on players and their fitness status ahead of their match against Reading on Monday night in the Barclay’s Premier League.
Theo Walcott – Is still a doubt with Wenger saying “we don’t know” if he will be ready to return on Monday night. Walcott is out with a calf strain.
Laurent Koscielny – Should be fit to play as Wenger says that he “comes back in to the group” after recovering from a thigh problem.
Olivier Giroud – Should be fit to play and is back with the squad after recovering from a back injury picked up against West Brom last weekend.
Abou Diaby – Wenger said that Diaby is ‘making slow progress’ and is not expected back this side of Christmas. The midfielder is still out with a thigh injury which he picked up against Chelsea on 29th September. Wenger added “We are in no-man’s land on that front. He is working, but we are waiting.”
Andre Santos – No update given but the defender is believed to be close to a return after being out with a muscle strain.
Lukasz Fabianski – No update given but the Polish goalkeeper is not expected back until mid-January after picking up an ankle injury which required surgery.
