Chelsea’s Oriol Romeu has underwent a knee operation after the player suffered a severe knee problem which caused damage to both his meniscus and cruciate ligament. The player required anterior cruciate reconstruction surgery as well as medial meniscus repair and the operation was carried out yesterday [Monday].
Romeu suffered the damage to his knee during Chelsea’s match against Sunderland on Saturday and according to the Chelsea club website he is expected to be out for at least six months.
21 year old Romeu, who has featured nine times for Chelsea this season, has been replaced in the squad which will take part in the Club World Cup by George Saville.
The surgery was completed by Dr Ramon Cugat.by
