Sandro facing lengthy spell out

After what was described by Andre Villas Boas directly after the game as an injury which was not serious, Sandro today underwent surgery on the knee problem which forced him out of Tottenham’s game at the weekend against QPR.

An official statement on the Tottenham website stated

Sandro has undergone knee surgery following the injury that forced his substitution against QPR at the weekend.

The midfielder’s recovery schedule will be assessed over the next few days.

There doesn’t seem to be any concrete information regarding the type of surgery required which would significantly impact on the length of time Sandro could expect to be out of action for the North London side.

Sandro tweeted his followers

Sorry guys, but this one really got me, the beast is hurt…

While Gareth Bale tweeted

“Get well soon @sandroraniere… the beast will be back!”

Which could indicate that Sandro’s injury could be at the more serious end of the scale. At this point, however, it is purely speculation.
