Arsenal injury update ahead of Blackburn match

Speaking to the press ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup game against Blackburn on Saturday, Arsene Wenger has given some updates regarding the status of his injured players.

Regarding Jack Wilshere who is suffering from a dead leg which saw him substituted in the game against Sunderland, Wenger says that he will not risk him and the player will face a fitness test.

Wenger said

I will not take a risk [with his fitness, with the rest of the season in mind and what happened before.

Kieran Gibbs has a small chance of being fit for the second leg of Arsenal’s Champions League match against Bayern.

Laurent Koscielny, who withdrew from the squad in the pre-match warm up before the Sunderland game will face a fitness test.

Thomas Vermaelen is rated as being 90:10 and will also face a fitness test before the game.

Wenger also hinted that he could look to rest key players for the game adding

‘The players who will not start are the players who have played many games recently’
