Phil Jones out with shingles

Manchester United’s Phil Jones has been ruled out for up to four weeks after developing shingles, the adult form of chickenpox.

Forced to withdraw from the England u21 side, Jones is unlikely to feature against Everton at Old Trafford and could miss Manchester United’s Champions League first leg against Real Madrid.

Caused by the herpes virus, shingles usually lasts from between two and four weeks causing pain and a rash which usually affects the chest and abdomen as well as a tingling sensation.

While complications can occur, these usually happen in older people.

“usually happen in older people” is right. He’s only 20! Very strange development.

I had shingles at 18. Not fun. Medicine (very expensive) clears it after 1 week, but you’d be very run down for following couple weeks.
