Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini is set to return to training this week however he is not expected to be fit in time to face Liverpool in the Premier League.
Out since February after breaking two bones in his back when he made a clearance against Southampton, Alan Pardew said of his skipper
“Colo will train on Thursday or Friday.
“To have him around will be a boost.”
Newcastle could also welcome back Cheik Tiote who has been suffering from a minor hamstring problem.
“I think Cheik’s got a really good chance [of facing Liverpool].”
Pardew also confirmed that David Santon is sidelined with a hamstring injury while Sylvain Marveaux will be assessed by medical staff after picking up a groin injury.by
