Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has been ruled out of his club’s final games of the season after the Argentinean aggravated his hamstring although he is expected to be fit in time to play for his country in their World Cup qualifying matches next month.
Messi first picked up the injury in the Champions League quarter finals against Paris Saint-Germain and was forced off against Atltico Madrid at the weekend.
Speaking on their official site, Barcelona said
The period of absence will be two to three weeks.
Messi is therefore expected to miss Barcelona’s final three league games of the season including their first at the Nou Camp since securing the league title.
He will also be denied the chance to top his record of 50 goals in a season with his tally for this season on 46, achieved in only 32 appearances.
