Sturridge likely to miss start of season for Liverpool

Liverpool were dealt a massive blow as they learned that forward Daniel Sturridge is likely to miss the start of the new season with the injury he picked up while on international duty with England.

Sturridge, who damaged his ankle ligaments, could be out until late September or early October according to a report which appeared in the Daily Telegraph who are projecting a ‘worst case scenario’ ruling Sturridge out for four months.

Liverpool have not confirmed this information.

Tests on his ankle showed that there has been serious ankle ligament damage and the 23 year old is likely to miss what would have been his first pre-season with his new club since arriving for £12 million in the January transfer window.
