Arsenal’s Johan Djourou, who is currently on a season long loan with Hamburg in the Bundesliga, got his first start for the club in a friendly against the Austrians Salzburg however, despite starting the game, he had to be replaced after only four minutes with adductor problems.
The adductor is a large triangular muscle which is located on the medial side of the thigh and is in two parts – the adductor brevis and the adductor longus, however it is not clear which one Djourou has an issue with.
Fellow Arsenal-loanee Nicklas Bendtner underwent surgery on his adductor longus back in December however it is also not clear the severity of the problem which affected Johan Djourou.
Speaking about signing for Hamburg, Djourou had said
I am very glad that everything is done and dusted. HSV is a big club with great history, lots of quality and amazing fans. I am convinced that this move is the right one to further my career.
So hopefully this injury will not keep him out of the side too long or disrupt his pre-season too much.
