Knock keeps Bale out of friendly

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed Gareth Bale will sit out today’s friendly against Sunderland with a knock, as rumours of interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid intensify.

Tottenham, who play their first game in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong today, insist the Welsh winger has a slight injury.

Andre Villas-Boas said:

“Unfortunately against Sunderland he won’t be fit to play, he’s recovering from a knock he had in training so we expect him hopefully to have some involvement in the second game.”
