Aston Villa have been dealt a blow with the news that striker Christian Benteke will be out for between four and six weeks with a hip injury.
The player picked up the injury during Aston Villa’s 1-0 win over Norwich at the weekend however Villa boss Paul Lambert revealed that it is not as bad as they had first feared.
“It’s not as bad as we thought. It will be maybe four to six weeks, although we’re helped by the fact there is an international break during that spell.
“We’ve been given the best and worst-case scenario.
“The good thing about Christian is he is usually a quick healer.”
Villa are currently without Gardner, Agbonlahor, Westwood, Okore and N’Zogbia.
Manchester United will be without Robin van Persie and Michael Carrick for tonight’s Capital One Cup game against Liverpool.
Van Persie is still sidelined with the groin injury which kept him out of United’ game against Manchester City at the weekend while midfielder Carrick picked up a knock during the game.
Manchester United will also be without Phil Jones, Rafael and Darren Fletcher.by
