Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil have been passed fit by Arsenal ahead of their Champions League game against Marseille tomorrow night. Giroud had a knee problem which he picked up against Sunderland at the weekend while Mesut Ozil was believed to be suffering from ‘tight muscles’ according to Wenger.
Per Mertesacker is also back in contention after missing the game at the weekend due to illness. Thomas Vermaelen is also said to be fit and ready to take part. All four travel to Marseille.
Fulham have been handed a welcome boost with the news that Bryan Ruiz’s ankle injury is not as bad as had been feared at first. Scans have shown that the ligament damage which was first predicted has not occurred however a statement from Fulham has said
“The early signs suggest that the injury is better than first feared, although a recovery time cannot be estimated until the swelling has reduced.”
Ruiz was carried off after receiving a tackle from Liam Ridgewell on Saturday during the 1-1 draw.
Swansea’s Pablo Hernandez will miss out on his side’s trip to Valencia in the Europa League as the winger has picked up a hamstring strain. He will also miss Swansea’s game against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. The news will come as a massive disappointment to the player who spent eight years at the Spanish club in two separate four year spells.
Wilfried Bony, who picked up a rib injury in last night’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool, has been passed fit to play.
