Injury updates Everton, Manchester United, Manchester City

Everton have received a blow with the news that Steven Pienaar has picked up a hamstring injury during training which will see him sidelined for around one month.

Manchester City

Manchester City announced that Vincent Kompany could return to their side against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League after being out since the opening day of the season with a groin injury.

Martin Demichelis is, however, still sidelined with a knee injury and is still joined in the treatment room by Gael Clichy, David Silva and Micah Richards.

Manchester United

Manchester United have received a welcome and somewhat surprising boost with the news that midfielder Darren Fletcher has returned to first-team training.

Fletcher, 29, has been sidelined with a chronic bowel condition and has just made 13 appearances since he was first diagnosed with the condition at the end of 2011. He has not player for United since December 26th 2011.

Speaking to the press ahead of Manchester United’s Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen, manager David Moyes said

“Darren is a long way away from being ready and we’ll use the doctors’ and physios’ advice.

“But the big thing is he’s back in and it’s great to have him around. It looks as if he’s on the road to recovery.”
