Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Daniel Sturridge has been struggling since he returned from international duty with England. Sturrige had picked up a thigh injury but was insistent that he was fit enough to play for England against Germany and, despite having been out injured, Hodgson kept him on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
Speaking at his press conference yttserday, Rogers stated that Sturridge would have to be assessed before their game against Everton. Rodgers said
“He’s not been able to train with the group since he came back.
“We’ll need to assess him. It’s not ideal if you haven’t trained.
Norwich manager Chris Hughton has revealed that Ricky van Wolfswinkel is still suffering from a muscular problem in his toe. The Canaries boss said
“Its a small muscular problem in his toe, it is one of those which has taken a little bit longer to heal”
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that he does not know when forward Andy Carroll will be able to return to the side after successive heel injuries have ruled him out of action since the last day of last season. Added to that Carroll has also been suffering from a stomach infection which has seen him lose a lot of weight.
“We’ve been trying to get a date out of the guys over in Amsterdam.
“But they’re reluctant to give us any clear indication of just how long it’s going to be before he can join us back here and start training with the players, with the squad and then obviously getting into the team to play some games.
“It’s obviously a great worry and concern for us all and one we haven’t expected, but one we have to make sure we deal with.”
