Van Persie suffers injury set-back

Robin van Persie will miss United’s game against Chelsea and possibly the trip to Arsenal after suffering a set-back.

New reports coming out on Saturday morning claim that the Dutch forward will now be out for a further six weeks with a thigh injury after already having missed the past five weeks.

It had been reported that Manchester United expected van Persie to possibly return this weekend against Swansea, albeit on the bench, but it seems that this report was premature.

The injury will be a major concern to David Moyes who has witnessed his side struggle without van Persie and Wayne Rooney who is also struggling with a groin injury. United fans will also, rightly, be concerned that van Persie is returning to his injury-plagued ways which blighted his days at Arsenal.

Moyes refused to be drawn on the length of time van Persie is likely to be absent for during his press conference on Friday, saying

We are trying to get him back but it’s a thigh strain similar to the one he had at Arsenal so we are having to manage it correctly.

He has been to Holland to work with the guy he knows over there and we are doing everything we can. There are some injuries you can play with but not the thigh.

Van Persie picked up the thigh injury taking a corner for United against Shakhtar in the Champions League and looks set to be out until the middle of February.

The difference betweenTable topping arsenal and Man.U is van persie’s goals. Little does Moyes knows that Man U 2013/14 is acting Wenger’s script. The only reason he will sell RVP to UTD is probably to make them weak.
It’s a pity they bit the bate. It is very dangerous to structure a team on crocs like RVP and ROONEY.
Moyes should learn from Rogers and sell off RVP ASAP.
