Pique could miss Barcelona’s game against Manchester City

Barcelona’s only regular defender could miss out on their Champions League tie against Manchester City.

Gerard Pique picked up a calf injury during Barcelona’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad at the weekend and may not be fit in time for the second leg of their Champions League tie against the English side.

Pique has been ruled out initially for two weeks meaning he will miss Spain’s game against Italy as well as Barcelona’s home league game against strugglers Almeria.

Javier Mascherano and Carlos Puyol have both suffered injury problems this season and Pique has been the only regular in Barcelona’s defensive line this season and his injury will come as a blow.

Barcelona confirmed the news on their official site on Sunday and Tata Maartinez is expected to turn to youngster Marc Bartra in the meantime.
