Real Madrid have reportedly offered Cheslea’s Ashley Cole a two year deal worth £8m.
Ashley Cole is out of contract with Chelsea in the summer and according to an exclusive running in today’s Sun [paywalled], the 33 year old could earn £76,000 per week should he accept the offer from the Spanish giants.
The Sun report a source from the Bernabeu as saying
“Ashley is a world-class defender and Madrid have wanted to sign him for some time.
“It is now the perfect opportunity as he is free.”
It is believed that should Real Madrid convince Cole to join them they will look to unload Fabio Contrao with Spurs being listed as a possible destination for the player. Cole would then go to Madrid as a direct competitor with Marcelo for the starting left-back spot.
It has, however, also been rumoured that Chelsea will offer Cole a new deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge so it’s hard to know at this point what way this story is likely to go.
With just 12 league starts this season since Jose Mourinho returned to the side, Cole certainly has some decisions to make about what is likely to be his last top-level contract in the game.by
