Arsenal are facing up to two weeks without star defender Laurent Koscielny.
The defender, who was substituted at halftime during Arsenal’s game against Chelsea at the weekend, is set to be out for around a fortnight with a calf-strain. It means that not only will he miss their game against Swansea tonight [Tuesday] but is also likely to miss out on the visit of Manchester City and their trip to Goodison Park the following weekend.
The defender’s injury means that Arsenal only have two fit centrebacks at the club – Per Mertesacker and club captain Thomas Vermaelen. They have called youngster Hector Bellerin in to the squad from the reserves.
The injury continues the struggles Arsenal have had in the fitness department all season. With so many players out injured, usually for lengthy periods, this places additional strain on the fit members of the squad often leading to further injuries.
It is a vicious circle that they have struggled to break this year.by
