Abou Diaby is set for a shock inclusion in the Arsenal side against Everton on Sunday according to reports this morning [although there is a problem that they could be April Fool’s Day quotes].
The coverage, which is on UK websites citing L’Equipe as their source, have quoted Arsene Wenger as saying
“Diaby will return to the team this weekend, yes, he has a tremendous spirit and has fought with courage to return as an Arsenal player. He is like a new signing.
“He has been out for a long time, but will start the game, to win this game is crucial and would mean we can stop looking over our shoulders and begin again looking forward
“I am unsure as yet who he will replace, but expect to see him start, he is a top player at the club and an important one for us.’
He allegedly added
“Abou plays really intricate and laudable football, objectively and overall [he is] like [a new] signing.”
Diaby has been out for over a year with a cruciate knee injury and only returned to training on Tuesday so I don’t think anyone was expecting him to be close to the squad so soon so if it is an April Fools joke that would probably make more sense along with the fact that it has not been picked up by major outlets.
Aaron Ramsey, is also expected to rejoin full training on Thursday [definitely not an April Fool’s joke]. The Welsh midfielder, who has been out of action since Boxing Day with a thigh injury, has suffered a number of setbacks in his recovery and was not expected to be out for this long.
There is no date yet for Jack Wilshere or Mesut Ozil’s return to full training. Wilshere is sidelined with a broken foot while Ozil is out with a hamstring problem.by
