Van Persie set for Manchester United return one week after Moyes is sacked

Manchester United’s Robin van Persie is set to return to the side despite claims that he would miss the rest of the season with his knee injury.

The Dutchman has endured an injury-riddled campaign this season, reminiscent of the majority of his time with Arsenal, but it seems like he could feature under Ryan Giggs which is news which is surely likely to raise further questions.

All season there have been reports of disharmony between David Moyes and van Persie, with the manager’s training methods being criticised in many quarters and blamed for the player’s injury troubles.

Just one week after the Scotsman’s sacking, van Persie has returned to fitness and while it is likely to just be a coincidence, the timing will certainly raise a few eyebrows.

Giggs said of van Persie

‘We’ll just have to wait and see how he goes this week. He came back last Friday and he trained well.

‘He just needs to work on his fitness now so, yeah, he looked great.’
