West Ham and Sunderland eye up Italian defender

TMW, the Italian website known to have good access to football agents and a track record of breaking stories, are today linking West Ham and Sunderland with a move for Watford’s centre back Gabriele Angella.

The 24 year-old defender has enjoyed a good season with the Hornets in the Championship after signing for them last summer from Udinese.

With four years left to run on his current deal, Angella has made 38 league appearances for Watford this season, scoring eight goals and grabbing two assists, not a bad return for a defender.

The report on the Italian site doesn’t seem to have that much information beyond claiming that West Ham have made an enquiry for the player who has also caught the attention of Sunderland and given the site’s track record it would seem like an agent somewhere has thrown a very small piece of information their way.

His transfer value is in the region of £1.3m.
