Liverpool sign Tottenham defender

According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have signed Tottenham defender Kevin Stewart.

The 20 year-old, who has captained Tottenham at youth level, was not offered a new professional deal by the north London club at which point Liverpool are believed to have stepped in.

The deal he has signed with Liverpool is for two years and adds yet another player to their ever swelling ranks this summer with Stewart able to join the club from July 1st.

With Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert already signed from Southampton, boss Brendan Rodgers is doing all he can to make sure that he has the squad able to compete on four fronts next season and cope with the rigours of twice-weekly football as Liverpool head back in to the Champions League.

Stewart spent last season on loan with Crewe Alexandra after signing for the Tottenham academy in 2010.
