Manchester United defender set to be announced at Juventus today

According to the French paper L’Equipe, Patrice Evra is expected to be announced as a Juventus player at some point on Saturday.

The French defender will become the latest signing for the Old Lady who have just completed the signing of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Manchester United have left the UK to embark on their pre-season tour of the US. Evra was not named as part of the 25-man squad which travelled but the Manchester United website gave no reason as to why the full-back was not included.

Midfielder Anderson, who spent the last half of last season on loan in Italy with Fiorentina, was also omitted from the squad due to a calf injury, as was Michael Carrick after he underwent surgery on his left ankle.

Over the summer Evra was handed an automatic one-year deal with United when his contract expired due to a clause contained within the agreement.

The 33-year-old spent eight seasons at United and made 41 appearances for the club last season, all as a starter.

Great player for United, Evra. Influential in the dressing room and on the field of play. His passion for the game and loyalty to United unquestionable. Pity he’s leaving rather unsung. The least he could have gotten was an OT bye. Thank you Evra. You would always be appreciated. Adios.
