Eden Hazard has agreed to stay at Chelsea after acknowledging that his lack of progress this season is down to him and him alone.
The forward has only appeared 26 times in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals and assisting nine – a huge difference from last season when he played 38, scored 14 and assisted 12 in the same competition. The Belgium international’s name has often been left off the team sheet, much to the surprise of the Blues’ fans, considering he won Player of the Season in 2015.
While some blame the now sacked Jose Mourinho for Hazard’s bizarre dip in form, the player himself is said to have taken full responsibility and has assured new manager, Antonio Conte, that he plans to stay in south London.
The 25-year-old has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, given his lack of playing time at Chelsea. However, it appears that the forward is willing to stay and work under the new manager, who has signed a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge and will join at the end of the season.
Hazard has been left out of the Chelsea squad since March due to a hip injury.by
