Massive injury boost for Arsenal ahead of Sunderland match

Jack Wilshere has been named in the Arsenal squad for the first time this season as his side faces Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday.

The midfielder has been sidelined since the start of the campaign after Gabriel allegedly broke his leg in training. Needing surgery to insert a pin, that then caused its own problems with discomfort and a second operation being discussed.

Thankfully, for both the player and his club, that was required and Jack has been gradually returning to fitness with the Arsenal u21 side and even grabbed a goal after seeming to pick up an injury against West Brom on Monday night.

With the Euros looming and Wilshere desperate to make the tournament, despite not deserving to go having missed the whole season, Roy Hodgson and Arsene Wenger will no doubt be delighted to see him back.

Whether he can avoid the small injuries that tend to follow a lengthy layoff remains to be seen but given his history, most people will be expecting to see him sidelined again soon.
