From Belgium: Manchester City captain injury update

The Belgian media is reporting that Manchester City skipper, Vincent Kompany is not only out for the Arsenal match on Sunday… he’s out for the Euros.

The centre-back was taken off in the first half of City’s second leg Champions League clash against Real Madrid at the Etihad. The Belgium international has been battling a calf injury on and off (but mostly on) for a lot of this season and he only returned to action again recently. In fact, the Madrid match was the first game he’d played in a couple of weeks and within 10 minutes, he was limping off.

Reports emerging from Belgium state that it’s unlikely that Kompany will be able to take part in the Euros this summer. However, it’s important to keep in mind that, at this point in time, City are yet to confirm or deny said reports. Manuel Pellegrini only mentioned that the club would analyse the defender on Thursday.
