Cristiano Ronald was an injury doubt going into Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final clash against Manchester City but appears amused that people questioned his ability to recover in time.
The forward, who tweaked his hamstring against Villarreal in April, missed the first leg of the tie at the Bernabeu, which finished 0-0, and many were assuming he could in fact miss the second. However, speaking after the La Liga team’s tight 1-0 win at the Etihad, the Portuguese international smirked, remarking that people seem to forget how quickly he can recover.
“I was good,” he smiled.
“15 days and I didn’t do much. I played today. People were doubting me, I don’t know why. People forget that I recover fast, but I’m happy. No problems. But of course, I was tired because I didn’t compete for 15 days but I don’t think I did but and I think I helped the team.”
The 31-year-old is right. Until this muscle problem, Ronaldo has featured every match. He’s incredibly fit and with that, comes the ability to recover quickly. A little rest was clearly all the forward needed.by
