Everton injury blow as key man out for rest of season, while others have 'outside chance'

Roberto Martinez gave fitness updates on Phil Jagielka, Gerard Deulofeu, Seamus Coleman and Gareth Barry ahead of Everton’s trip to Leicester City.

Speaking ahead of the difficult away clash to the Premier League winners, Leicester, the Toffies’ manager admitted that although Coleman and Barry could feature at the weekend, they almost certainly will against Sunderland. In addition, England international, Jagielka, is progressing well and should be involved by the end of the season.

Deulofeu, on the other hand, is a doubt for the rest of the season.

“Obviously, we had no knocks or any problems in the game against Bournemouth,” the Everton boss revealed.

“The only three players that we’re keeping a close eye on are Seamus Coleman, Gareth Barry and Phil Jagielka. Obviously, Gerard Deulofeu, it will be difficult to see him in any of the three games we’ve got left. We’re very confident that Phil Jagielka could be available in the last game of the season and Gareth Barry and Seamus Coleman, I think they’ve got an outside chance to be involved at the weekend. But I feel quite confident that they should be involved in one way another before the season ends. So maybe the Sunderland game.”
