Injured against Everton after a superb run of form, Liverpool forward Divock Origi’s season was in doubt.
Not only that, the young Belgian striker looked to be a doubt for the European Championships despite being a dead cert for the Belgium squad.
After scans and some rehab, though, the chances of him playing again this season have improved.
“It’s progressing well. It’s been ten days now so I try and improve every day and make steps, we just try and [ensure that] I’m back as quick as possible,” Origi told the official club website.
“For example, yesterday and today I feel a big difference, with these injuries it can evolve every day and we put in a lot of work.”
Origi had scored five goals in as many games ahead of the injury, caused by a horrific tackle by Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori.
Two of those goals came in the stunning Europa League defeat of Borussia Dortmund and, though he will miss Thursday’s semi-final second leg against Villarreal, Origi is hoping to be fit in time for the final should Liverpool make it.
“Of course, I believe in it.
“My goal is to come back as soon as possible and I just want to go back on the pitch. I think it’s possible but you never know.”by
