Jose Mourinho thinks Harry Kane has a good chance to play in the North London derby this weekend, but claims the striker is an injury doubt.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Spurs’ Europa League clash on Thursday, Jose Mourinho revealed Harry Kane isn’t 100% for the North London derby this weekend.

The striker missed training on Wednesday, along with a few others, though Mourinho only ruled out Erik Lamela completely. For Kane, he said, “there is a chance [they will be fit]”.

On Kane specifically, Mourinho wasn’t giving much away. He added, “I’m not going to tell you the nature of his injury. I think he has a good chance [to play]. I don’t want to lie.

“I don’t want to hide anything in relation to ‘oh, is he going to play or no.’ I think he is going to play. My feeling is he’s going to play.”

If Mourinho says there’s a chance Kane will play, I’d generally take that to mean he’s guaranteed to start. You don’t feel the striker would pull out of the chance to score his usual derby penalty unless the problem was a bit more serious.

The fact we have no idea what the injury concern is leaves a little bit of doubt, though. Any assessment of his chances on our part would be guesswork.

The other players with injury doubts for the derby are Carlos Vinicius, Sergio Reguilon, and Toby Alderweireld. Mourinho suggests they all have ‘a chance’ to feature against Arsenal.
