Speaking after Arsenal’s latest defeat, Mikel Arteta gave a vague update about when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will return from his injury.

There were a few raised eyebrows when Aubameyang was not included in the squad that lost at Everton on Saturday. Turns out the forward, who hasn’t missed a single game through injury since joining Arsenal, has a calf strain that will rule him out of the Christmas period and his worst run of form at the club.

I’m not saying he’s not injured, I’m just saying if he was Mesut Ozil more questions would be asked.

Anyway, as seems to be the case these days, Arsenal and Arteta gave little away regarding the injury.

“We want him back as quickly as possible,” Arteta said after the defeat at Goodison Park. “He has a small strain and he will need a few days. I don’t know if it’s a week or two weeks, it will depend how the injury evolves.”

Arsenal gave a similarly vague update about Thomas Partey with the club seemingly moving towards a ‘less is more’ model when it comes to information they release.
